The vibrant and aromatic Riesling Alte Reben, Toreye from the house Weingut Eymann, based in the region Pfalz in southern-western Germany, is exclusively made from Riesling grapes from 80-year-old vines growing in the Gönnheimer Sonnenberg and Dürkheimer Fuchsmantel areas. The vines are un-grafted, which means the vines survived the Phylloxera devastation during the late 19th century where almost all vineyards in Europe were destroyed, and still have their original root stocks intact, which is quite rare.
Riesling Alte Reben Toreye has a lemon colour and a vibrant, aromatic style. with a cascade of fruity, flowery and spicy aromas reminiscent of white flowers, lemon, passion fruit, white pepper, flint and a hint of the classic petroleum note which Riesling is so renowned for. The palate is mouth-watering with a high, vivid acidity and a pleasant chalky and crunchy mouthfeel and a good length. The flavours are rich of grape fruit, pear, bread crumbs, herbs, flint and wet stones. Riesling Alte Reben Toreye is a refreshing glass of wine on its own as well as quite a versatile wine when it comes to pairing with food. Serve it chilled with for instance shellfish, poultry and pork served with lots of lemon or vinaigrette, salty dishes for instance charcuterie and tapas, as well as spicy, Asian dishes.
Vincent Eymann took over family-owned house situated in the small village Gönnheim after his father in 1984. He cultivates 15 hectares of vineyards located on the steep slopes by the Rhine river with strictly organic and biodynamic methods. The vines are up to 50 years old and grow on a complex mosaic of various soil types and minerals. Eymann is passionate about creating authentic wines in harmony with nature, and above all for the health of our children and future generations. All his wines are certified organic and biodynamic since 2005, and he is a pioneer of this approach in the area. Biodynamic agriculture is very similar to organic farming, but it includes various esoteric concepts drawn from the ideas of Rudolf Steiner and Maria Thun. The goal is to grow healthy vines with the best fruit quality as possible as well as supporting nature and biodiversity.
